Fairmont School District #89 services students Pre-K through 8th grade in the unincorporated section of Lockport, Illinois. This is a one school district housing the Elementary and Jr. High school in one building. We have a diverse population which include African-American, Hispanic and Caucasian children.
This school year we have taken on the challenge of improving the reading and math scores of our student body using aggressive tactics of incorporating the Keys to Reading Success program. We also through state funding were able to create an 8-week Saturday Morning Boot Camp which focused on tutoring reading and math along with a theater arts program with New Branch Theatre Company to enforce what was being taught in the classroom. |
