Biographical Information/Mission Statement/Vision for the School

I have a lot of high hopes for Fairmont School.  I believe that we have a lot of great teachers and staff members that really want what is best for our students.  They will do what is necessary to help our students become successful in and out of school.

Fairmont students strive to learn and better themselves.  Our ISAT scores continue to grow steadily.  I look forward to seeing how much our scores increase this school year.  We should get our ISAT scores in June.  I believe that our scores should will increase by up to 10 points!

We have made a lot of improvements at Fairmont this school year.  All of the improvements that we have made this year have been for the benefit of our school and our students.

  • We have added around one hundred computers to our building.  Fifty of those computers were brand new and the others were donated.  We created a new computer lab that teachers could take their students into and also ensured that each classroom had three working computers in them for teacher and student use.
  • We added an art program that the students absolutely love.  In art our students are able to show their creativity.
  • We have added twenty minutes to the school day that allows our elementary students to receive twenty extra minutes of instruction.  In our middle school, we noticed that many of our students were not doing homework and/or studying for tests at home.  So, we created a study hall period for them to do homework and study for tests at school.  This is also the time that our RtI interventionists work with their Tier II and Tier III students.

One change that I am particularly proud of is that I have an open door policy with students, staff members, parents, and community members.  Having this policy has created a school community that is more positive and one that works together to achieve greatness.

On a personal note, I have been in education for the past seventeen years.  Prior to coming to Fairmont in 2007, I was a middle school social studies teacher in Melrose Park.  I love being a part of the school setting.

I grew up in Indiana along the Ohio border.  I was very active in sports growing up.  My favorites were football and basketball.  I attended Indiana University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1992.  I moved to Illinois the following year when I took a teaching position in Melrose Park.  In 2005, I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a master's degree in administrative leadership.

I have been married for the eleven years to my wife Laura.  We have beautiful twin daughters, Abigail and Katherine, who will be eight years old at the end of May.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, playing and watching sports, and playing with our dog, Mya.
