Dear Fairmont families,

Fairmont School is committed to supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of every student. As part of this commitment, we implement a framework called MTSS – Multi-Tiered System of Supports.

This level of support is in alignment with our school mission statement, " Fairmont School District 89 is proud to provide a community-focused, culturally diverse, welcoming, and safe environment that promotes academic growth and achievement for the whole child. Our school community challenges our students to carry a legacy of resilience, advocacy, and respect, to inspire strong and compassionate learners."

MTSS is a proactive and systematic approach that uses data and evidence-based practices to meet the individual needs of ALL learners. It provides varying levels of support (or “tiers”) based on each student’s performance and progress.

This framework helps ensure that no student falls through the cracks. It promotes equity by identifying needs early and delivering support in a timely, responsive way. MTSS also emphasizes collaboration between educators, families, and students.

Throughout the year, we regularly review student progress using assessments and classroom data. If a student is identified as needing additional help, our team works together to provide targeted interventions and monitor progress. Parents are informed and involved throughout the process.

Fairmont School District 89 fosters an inclusive environment that empowers responsible lifelong learners who exemplify ambition, perseverance, and determination.

If you have any questions or would like more information about MTSS, please feel free to contact one of the MTSS Coordinators.
